Former UFC fighter Frank Trigg was a popular commentator for several MMA promotions on HDNet, so his absence from their broadcasts was surprising. The gossip website “The Dirty” reports his dismissal was not for business reasons.
MMA fighter Frank Trigg choked out his wife in front of his children on October 17th, 2011. They are now going through a VERY messy divorce and the children who saw the carnage are right in the middle of it. He no longer is employed at HDnet because he was sleeping with a co-worker, assistant producer, 23 year old Amy Vaughn. The company does not approve of the affair and abuse that they were made aware of soon after the incident and have chosen not to utilize his services as a commentator anymore.
HDNet did not respond to requests for comment. Trigg said he does not comment on personal business.
Trigg was 21-9 as a fighter and had a memorable loss to Matt Hughes. He fought in the UFC, Pride, Rumble on the Rock and BAMMA.

Frustrated, Lima attempted submissions off his back but failed to overcome the grinding style of the U.S. Olympian. ?This packed house at Caesars Windsor saw why Ben Askren is widely considered one of the best welterweights on the planet,? said Bellator Chairman & CEO Bjorn Rebney. ?Ben put on a display of complete dominance tonight, and will be a force in this division for a long time.<br><br>
With the unanimous decision win, Ben Askren successfully defended the Bellator Welterweight Championship and moved his record to a perfect 10-0. Lima, defeated for the first time in over two years, fell to 21-5.<br><br>
When it was announced that Marlon Sandro would face his fellow countryman ?Popo? Bezerra in the first semifinal fight of the Bellator Season 6 Featherweight Tournament, many fans circled April 6 on their calendars. Through the first two rounds of the contest, Sandro was constantly landing the inside low kicks while ?Popo? was looking to counter. Nevertheless, the third round saw a much different Bezerra. Sensing the end of the fight, ?Popo? aggressively pursued Sandro, landing solid strikes that moved Sandro backwards. However, it would not be enough as the bell to end the fight sounded, and Sandro was awarded the split-decision victory. <br><br>
?This guy is a tough guy. I came here to put on a good show for everybody,? an ecstatic Sandro said of the win.<br><br>
With the split-decision victory, Sandro becomes the first entrant in the Bellator Season Six Featherweight Tournament Finals and improves his record to 22-3. ?Popo,? who lost for just the second time in his career, tastes defeat for the first time since 2009. <br><br>
For Bellator newcomers Travis Marx and Masakatsu Ueda, the opportunity to fight for a future bantamweight title fueled an outstanding back-and-forth affair that had the fans at Caesars Windsor on the edge of their seats. In the opening frame, Marx landed a huge slam that led to effective use of ground and pound while the striking seemed to favor Ueda, who was landing plenty of leg kicks. In the second, both fighters showed excellent grappling skills that had the Windsor crowd on their feet. Ueda landed more kicks to the body; however, Marx was more dominant on the ground. The action continued throughout the final round as both fighters attempted to out-grapple the other until the bell signaled the end of the fight. When the final scorecards from the judges were read, Travis Marx walked away with the hard-earned decision victory. <br><br>
?I never perceived myself as the underdog from day one. I came out here wanting to win it, and that?s what I did,? said a satisfied Marx. <br><br>
With the unanimous decision win, Travis Marx punched his ticket to the semifinals of the Bellator Season 6 Bantamweight Tournament and earned the 19th win of his career.<br><br>
In the first quarterfinal fight of the Season 6 Bantamweight Tournament, undefeated Rodrigo Lima and his opponent, Hiroshi ?Iron? Nakamura were both looking to send a message to the rest of the tournament field. In the first round, an aggressive Lima found himself on the mat early after a takedown from Nakamura. While still being active from the guard, Lima attempted submissions while Nakamura worked for a better position. After a one-point deduction in the second round for an illegal blow to the groin, Nakamura again scored a takedown and remained in the top position. Lima, comfortable off his back, attempted submissions and tried to get the finish. In the third, another Nakamura takedown led to much of the same. Both fighters were aggressive on the ground until the sound of the final bell. When the judges? scorecards were read, all three scored the bout in favor of Hiroshi Nakamura. <br><br>
?This is my first time fighting in North America so I was feeling uncomfortable in the beginning,? Nakamura said. ?But I?m feeling very good about going to the second round.? <br><br>
With the unanimous decision win, Hiroshi Nakamura improved his record to 15-5 and advanced to the semifinals of the Bellator Season 6 Bantamweight Tournament. Lima, who lost for the first time in his career, fell to 10-1.<br><br>
Bellator 65 will take place on April 13th from Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City featuring the Bantamweight World Championship fight between Bellator Season 5 Bantamweight Tournament Winner Eduardo ?Dudu? Dantas and reigning Bellator Bantamweight Champion Zach ?Fun Size? Makovsky.<br><br>

Jake Ellenberger and Martin Kampmann will fight in the main event of The Ultimate Fighter Live on June 1st in a fight that will have welterweight title shot implications according to UFC President Dana White.<Br><Br>
?The welterweight division is stacked and Jake Ellenberger and Martin Kampmann are going to fight for the chance to earn a title shot,? UFC President Dana White said. ?They will headline the season finale of TUF Live on FX to crown the next Ultimate Fighter. There?s a lot at stake for the guys competing on this card at the Palms.?<br><br>
The Ultimate Fighter Live Finale will take place in Las Vegas at The Pearl at The Palm Casino and airs live on the FX network. Ellenberger Vs. Kampmann will be a five round fight. Additional bouts will be announced in the weeks leading up to the card.<Br><Br>

A new non-profit international governing body was launched today in Sweden, as the International Mixed Martial Arts Federation (IMMAF) announced their foundation to the world.
The organization, headed by President August Wallen, strives to “provide a stable, professional and democratic community for all national federations and offer support to countries committed to forming new federations where none currently exist.”
The organization will look to work with governing bodies around the world to establish uniform (though fluid) regulations, as well as develop the amateur ranks and, ultimately, establish MMA as an Olympic sport.
“This is a very proud day for us,” said Wallen in a press release. “The IMMAF is committed to be at the forefront of developing MMA as an international sport, from the grassroots level to the elite level, supporting the development of regulations and best practices on health, safety, youth involvement and more.”
“Our vision is for MMA to be recognized as a sport through the full membership of IMMAF in SportAccord and for it to ultimately become an Olympic sport,” he continued. “I know many of us dedicated to MMA dream of the day that the sport has worldwide recognition and this is a first step towards making that happen.”
The UFC, in Sweden this week for UFC on Fuel TV 2, has already expressed their support for the IMMAF, issuing a press release of their own praising the new organization.
“In order to maintain the successful growth of our sport, it is important to invest in resources that will develop and cultivate it at an amateur level,” UFC Chairman and CEO Lorenzo Fertitta said. “Having an umbrella organization that will oversee and help build the sport on a global level will not only provide advanced and ever-improving safety standards but will also create a unified global model to help introduce the sport to new markets. It is our hope that it will also take us one step closer to witnessing the inclusion of the sport of MMA on the Olympic programme.?
“The creation of this organization is long overdue,” added Marc Ratner, the UFC’s Senior Vice President of Government and Regulatory Affairs. “MMA is the fastest growing sport in the world and we support the Federation’s focus on providing a globally unified set of rules and safety measures to help keep all fighters safe. While there are many obstacles ahead in the formation of this international organization, we are confident of the outcomes and advancements this group will make for the future of our sport.”
Penick’s Analysis: This is a very positive development, and if the UFC donates to the organization early on to assist in their development it will absolutely be a smart investment. Having an international body working to unify the sport as one at the amateur level is a good thing, and as it grows it can expand its reach to the professional ranks, and eventually may even be able to act as an international drug testing organization along with that.
