Get a belt that’s tight around your waist and wear it every day. This belt will be a signal to you, alerting you if your waist starts to grow. This will make you think twice before taking extra portions of fattening foods.
The problem with the holiday season is that you see, or are offered an endless barrage of sweet and fattening items, such as holiday cookies, cakes and candies. For some reason people just do more baking and candy buying during the holiday season than they do the rest of the year. When someone has just baked a fresh batch of holiday cookies, it’s not easy to refuse. It takes some determination, but it can be done! All you have to do is smile and say "thanks that looks good but I’m watching my weight" and then move on. You won’t have hurt the person’s feelings and your diet remains intact. And don’t feel you have to be perfect -one cookie or piece of candy every so often won’t destroy your diet. As long as you’re on track most of the time, you can afford a treat once in a while.
