Vladimir Matyushenko thinks UFC 141 opponent Alexander Gustafsson isn’t yet a top 10 fighter

40-year-old Vladimir Matyushenko is still going strong in his career, entering Friday night’s UFC 141 event off of two straight first round knockout wins. Matyushenko meets fast-rising 24-year-old Alexander Gustafsson, but while he respects what Gustafsson’s done so far in his UFC career, he thinks it’s too early to raise Gustafsson real high in the division (via MMAWeekly.com):
“It’s a little bit too early [to consider him top 10]. It’s not because he’s not deserving, but I think the 205 division is stacked with too many good people. We’ll see after the fight in Vegas. He’s beatable. I just saw his last fight with Matt Hamill and he was able to jab him without a problem. He just got a little bit tired, so he’s beatable.”

Jorge Masvidal entered his recent Strikeforce title fight with an injured right hand, and he quickly made it worse in the first round of an eventual five-round decision defeat to champ Gilbert Melendez.
But Masvidal said he never considered pulling out of the fight, especially given its stakes.
Still, despite the injury, Masvidal wants to take nothing away from the champ, and he hopes he soon gets another shot at a fighter he considers one of the world’s best.
