Phil Davis thinks UFC matchup with Rashad Evans would still make sense for his return

Phil Davis was scheduled to face Rashad Evans this August at UFC 133 before a knee injury took him out of action. Now on the mend and looking to return early in 2012, that may still be a fight that makes sense. Evans suffered a hand injury against Davis’ replacement Tito Ortiz, and it led to Jon Jones ultimately taking a fight with Lyoto Machida. Because of that, Evans may need another fight before getting his title shot, and in an interview with MMAWeekly.com, Davis said the fight would work for him:

“That may be a fight that makes sense. He’s still a top five guy, definitely one of the best guys in the world, we’ll see what happens. If that fight gets made, that’s still pretty cool. I’d like that.”
